That's the setup for E.T.A. Hoffmann's novel "Trolldrycken" ("The Devil's Elixir"). At Crafoord Auktioner Lund, we find a lovely copy translated into Swedish in the 1870s. The book is one of just over 180 lots now lined up on the auction house's bookshelves.
