Stockholms Auktionsverk Göteborg welcomes you to an auction of selected objects from the shared home of the couple Ulfstand Rosencrantz and Margaretha Åkerhielm af Margrethelund in Djursholm. These beautiful objects have been passed down through generations within the family.
Ulfstand Rosencrantz, who served in the Swedish Navy with the rank of Commander, was born at Gyllebo Castle in Skåne, which at the time was owned by his father, Chamberlain Börje Rosencrantz. A large proportion of the paintings, silverware and other objects originate from the Skåne family and from Gyllebo. On his mother's side there were strong Danish roots. Ulfstand's mother, Lovisa Rosenkrantz, was born in Denmark and belonged to the Danish branch of the Rosenkrantz family. Margaretha Åkerhielm af Margrethelund also came from a Swedish noble family, and the home in Djursholm came to be shaped by the history, traditions and collections of both families.
Among the just over 70 lots are both high-quality antiques and charming curiosities. Here you will find silk embroidery, thimbles in 18K gold, a handful of issues of The Daily Chronicle from the peace year of 1918, portrait paintings and a good deal of silver. A number of merit decorations and orders bear witness to generations of distinguished service. A singular object is the parrot-shaped pendant in 18K gold with enamel and oriental pearls, as is the hairwork from the Empire period and a map of the Pyrenees. Finally, mention should be made of the bellows from Gyllebo Castle – a piece of craftsmanship with considerable charm for anyone wishing to breathe a little life-giving oxygen into a fire or two.
In addition, some of the family's finest objects will be offered at Stockholms Auktionsverk's The Curated Classics Sale!
Welcome!
