Flora & Fauna — the very title at Auktionshuset Kolonn invites us to step into an enchanted world where botany and wildlife set the tone and leave their mark. Both concepts reach far back in time and can be traced to Roman mythology: Flora, the goddess of spring, and Fauna, associated with the wilderness.
At Auktionshuset Kolonn, they now coexist in over 110 highly varied lots. A robust late Empire mahogany sofa is refined by a pair of delicate swan-neck arms. In a Gallé vase, we can almost feel the foliage spreading beneath our fingertips. And thanks to A. Börtzells Tr AB, we encounter Swedish bird species rendered with a lifelike precision that few could achieve—perhaps only a Wright.
These are just three examples from a catalogue that also includes Japanese porcelain, one of Lisa Larson’s plump turtles, a taxidermy black-throated diver, an inkwell adorned with a sleek feline, and a bowl by Gustav Möllenborg weighed down by hyper-realistic oak leaves in silver (do take a close look at the detailing)—and, we promise, much more.
A warm welcome to Auktionshuset Kolonn and the theme Flora & Fauna.
