This was a time when radio announcers spoke so emphatically that Bakelite sets nearly jumped off the shelves, advertisers asked housewives if they had Fyffes bananas at home, and marketers, in general, boasted of their top-quality products through enamel signs. A bygone era, of course. But in small glimpses, preserved by Hasse Lampa.
That was his nickname in the trade. His real name was Hans Ljungberg, and he began collecting design pieces from the pre-mid-century era as early as the 1970s. He quickly focused on items from the Functionalist and Art Deco periods. These could include technical devices, signs, posters, and curiosities. But above all, he was drawn to lamps—hence the nickname, naturally.
Skånes Auktionsverk—Auction House of the Year 2024!—has now been entrusted to present his collections throughout 2025 via a series of themed auctions, culminating in a grand lamp finale of the most extraordinary kind. Without giving too much away, if you have a penchant for the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, or perhaps even the 1950s, these catalogs will feel like Christmas morning in a candy store.
Warmly welcome to Hasse Lampa’s Collections: Part 1!
