Some are content to collect in one or two specific areas—but not Per-Johan Weidolf from Växjö.
He had around forty different collecting interests and dedicated his life to building a vast collection, which Växjö Auktionskammare now has the honor of auctioning off through a series of themed auctions.
This is Theme Auction No. 5, and it marks the final chapter of Per-Johan’s extensive collection.
For many years, Per-Johan was chairman of both the collectors' club Virdarna and the Växjö Philatelic Society. He made significant contributions in highlighting the importance of remembering our history and understanding what objects can mean in a memory context. He called himself a super collector and was well-known on Radio Kronoberg, where he presented different collecting themes week by week. In an interview with Smålandsposten, he once said: “A lot of what I collect is out of nostalgia—things that were around when I was a child.”
Per-Johan had a near-fanatical interest in the narrow-gauge railway line between Växjö and Västervik and collected items related to that route. In addition, he collected postcards, stamps, comic books, fire-fighting memorabilia, banknotes and coins, dog tax tags, movie tickets, FIB's Gyllene Bok, Wahlström's youth books, phone cards, telegrams, stock certificates, train tickets and timetables, phone directories, collectible cards and "film stars," maps, medals, razors and razor blades, promotional items, radio licenses, matchbox history, brewery labels—you name it.
Now it’s time for a final themed sale, consisting of a nostalgic mix of lots.
Here you’ll find books, dog tax tags, razors, movie tickets, brewery history, fire extinguishers, maps, phone directories—and above all, a wide selection of items connected to Växjö’s local history.
Best of luck with your bidding!
