Like windows into surreal worlds—that is how his art has been described. And if you look long enough, you might just get drawn in. There is something hypnotic about Akos Sollar’s painting.
He developed his highly distinctive style after a long academic journey. It began in the early 1960s in his native Hungary, where he enrolled at the University of Applied Arts in Budapest in 1961. Two years later, he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw before arriving in Paris, where he was admitted to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1965. He later moved to Stockholm, completing his education at Konstfack between 1967 and 1969.
At Ekenbergs Auctions, we are presented with his signature style, but also with other artistic expressions—perhaps rarer even for the seasoned auction audience. In total, more than 50 paintings are offered in a theme simply titled Akos Sollar.
