The catalog for Stockholms Auktionsverk Helsinki’s Modern Art & Design auction this fall has finally arrived! As tradition dictates, the crafts section is filled with high-quality items, complemented by Finnish and international art on the walls. Works by Tapio Wirkkala, Gunnel Nyman, Kirsti Ilvessalo, Rut Bryk, Kaj Franck, and many more are showcased. Alvar Aalto's terrace lamp from the early 1960s is something truly special, as is Birger Kaipiainen’s uniquely decorated ceramics. And what can be said about Margaret Nordman’s mid-1930s cabinet with carved decorations by Hannes Autere?
Among the absolute highlights is a spectacular armchair by Alvar Aalto, designed as a prototype for O.Y. Huonekalu-ja Rakennustyötehdas A.B. Equally notable is a very rare table lamp by Paavo Tynell. Add to that several exquisite works by Björn Weckström, and you have a taste of what’s on offer.
In the art section, you'll find paintings by Markku Laakso, a large contemporary piece by Elina Ruohonen, a vibrant work by Rafael Wardi, and much more. Particularly worth mentioning is a beautifully soft pastel still life by Tove Jansson. But this is just a small sample of the nearly 400 lots going under the hammer.
