When presented with the turn of the last century through old newsreels, people of that time appear to have moved rapidly in a world of grayscale. But the displays at Crafoord Auktioner in Lund tell a different story. There, what is commonly referred to as all the colors of the rainbow come pouring forth. Like in the vases from Daum Frères, where tones of orange smoothly transition into green shades that sometimes lean towards yellow. Or in the delightful little pink Gallé vase with its reddish-purple overlay flowers, creating a still life in itself. And what can be said about the 25 cm tall vase by Gabriel Argy-Rousseau? A highly unique piece of craftsmanship created at a time when glass led the way for a society in transformation.
