With Nude in Art, Auktionshuset Kolonn explores a genre that is likely as old as art itself. Yet, as this selection clearly demonstrates, the subject can take on every conceivable form.
The similarities between Anders Zorn’s etched outdoor scenes and Bingo Rimér’s studio photographs, for example, are few. And the distance between erotic Japanese woodblock prints and Mats Jonasson’s glass sculpture is considerable, to say the least — not to mention the contrast between Hjalmar Nordström’s male model and Hans Arnold’s playfully depicted Justitia.
What greets visitors at Auktionshuset Kolonn is a refreshingly diverse lineup, within a theme that also includes works by, among others, Ivan Grünewald, Tony Landberg, Hans Wigert, James Davis, and Steven Meisel.
