Biografie

Frans Lindström was a Swedish painter and draftsman. Born in Stockholm, he is primarily known for his detailed depictions of the city, particularly the older districts that have since undergone significant transformation. Lindström's artistic education was brief, as he was largely a self-taught artist after a short period of study at the Technical School in Stockholm.

Painter of Swedish Landscapes

Lindström was a prolific artist, creating over 1,000 watercolors of Stockholm's historic areas, especially the Klara district. These works are not only artistically valuable but also hold great cultural and historical significance, as they document a part of the city that was later demolished. Approximately 300 of his watercolors are owned by the Stockholms borgargille (Stockholm's Civic Guild).

His work extends to oil paintings and drawings, though he is best recognized for his watercolors. He focused on capturing cityscapes, streets, and buildings, often with a sense of realistic detail. Some of his known works include depictions of Tegnérlunden and the Birger Jarlsgatan street. He passed away in Solna at the age of 80, leaving behind a rich visual record of a bygone era of Stockholm.
