While neither of these legendary figures requires much introduction, a few words are still worth mentioning. Märta Måås-Fjetterström's unparalleled contributions to the field, from her time at the weaving school in Vittsjö to her passing in 1941, resulted in a string of timeless classics showcased at major exhibitions. Barbro Nilsson, her successor as artistic director, not only preserved but also innovated and modernized the legacy left behind by Måås-Fjetterström—an almost unbelievable success story.
Now, we are treated to twelve examples of their masterful weaving in a theme that can be considered a "Best of" Swedish textile artistry from the 20th century. The selection ranges from Måås-Fjetterström's Båstadrosen from 1929 to Nilsson's Blå stjärnan from the late 1950s.
