To celebrate Gothenburg's 400th anniversary, Stockholms Auktionsverk in Gothenburg now presents a jubilee auction featuring four theme auctions named Gothenburg Painting, Gothenburg School, East Indian, and Gothenburgiana. In total, there are over 200 auction lots. A particularly special part of this festive quartet is, of course, the carefully curated selection in the Gothenburgiana section. Here, we can enjoy antiques with roots deeply entwined in the nation's second-largest city. A prime example of works where local anchoring has much to say is the mirror by Petter Flygare (mirror maker and gilder in Gothenburg 1786-1800). His creations held excellent quality but differed from contemporary Stockholm works. If you desire an all-encompassing Gothenburg antique - additionally adorned with graceful foliage - this one comes highly recommended. Absolutely do not miss the pewter plate from Rutger von Ascheberg's field service, a masterful Parisian work from the 17th century. And if you look upward, you can hardly miss the baroque chandelier in the ceiling that once hung at Råda Manor. In addition to the already mentioned, the auction also includes items that were once owned by the Broström and Keiller families.
Warmly welcome to this jubilee!
