Finnish glass is far from just asymmetrical formations inspired by ice and snowscapes, slender conifer trees with their rustic bark, and barren landscapes with miles between neighbors. Finnish glass is also an expression of color, contrasting tones, and a departure from established traditions. And when Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5 now presents "Finnish Glass for Everyday and Celebration," it's the colors that capture the viewer's eye. For example, in Markku Salo's glass jar "Konungarnas dal," which is presented here in an amethyst purple hue. Or in Helena Tynell's sun bottles, one of which is in yellow glass and should interest collectors. And in Oiva Toikka's birds, which come in varying colors and forms. In addition to the aforementioned, the theme also includes bottles by Nanny Still, a vase by Pertti Santalahti in black opaque, and, of course, Alvar Aalto's Savoy vases.
