Crafoord Auktioner in Stockholm presents 31 photorealistic oil paintings by the visual artist Anders Udd. Over the past 10 years, Udd has been sparing in displaying his works, making this auction and exhibition a unique opportunity to follow his artistic journey.
Anders Udd (born in 1958) was raised and works in Stockholm. In the 1980s, he studied at Nyckelviksskolan, Konstskolan Idun Lovén, and Nordiska Konstskolan. Udd works within a tradition rooted in the photorealistic painting of the 1970s. His photo-based art originates from reality as he paints and strips away the excess. The subjects are like frozen moments of contemporary society and modern landscape images. Often, it's the places and subjects that choose him.
Udd has received numerous grants from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee and the Längmanska Cultural Fund. Selected exhibitions include Galleri Bergman, Stockholm in 1998, 2001, and 2003; Galleri Odhencrantz & Coonce, Gothenburg in 2001; Lidingö Konsthall in 2005; Galleri Final, Malmö in 2007; Norrtälje Konsthall in 2008; Pulchri Studio, The Hague in 2009; Kulturhuset, Konst på papper in 1990; Galleri Limtorget in 1992; Stockholm Art Fair in 1999, 2007, and 2008; Market, Konstakademin, Stockholm in 2006; and Art Copenhagen, Copenhagen in 2006.
