Auktionshuset Kolonn now presents the third and final part of a unik collection of ceremonial and ritual nephrite pieces - objects ranging from neolithic period to Qing dynasty.
The collection belongs to a Swedish collector whose fascination for jade started during the 1970s. As a member of the English OCS (Oriental Ceramic Society) since 1999 he has visited Hongkong on several occasions and has been an active collector. Through the years he has also donated nephrite objects to museums including Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Nephrite, also known as jade, has through history been considered as a royal gem and has been associated with the soul and immortality. Nephrite has been used for 5000 years as sculpting material and its symbolism was tied to power, wisdom and eternal life.
