It is distinguished craftsmanship that once emerged from the kilns and is now presented by Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5. At the forefront stands Hans Hedberg, whose high-fired faience is offered here in a multitude of forms and an equally wide range of glazes. Hedberg’s own whiteboard with manufacturing instructions is something quite out of the ordinary — a unique object that offers us a glimpse into the ceramicist’s daily work.
Åke Holm is represented by several pieces, as is Isak Isaksson, who accounts for a number of oxblood-coloured works. A plateau by Ilse Claesson embodies the cool elegance of Art Deco at its most distinctly Swedish. Beside it is displayed a small masterpiece of a vase by Anders Bruno Liljefors. And standing quite apart is a bowl by Hertha Hillfon — heavy and unabashed.
