Famille Rose - Kolonn's pink-themed collection of beautifully decorated porcelain primarily indulges in flowers and figurative scenes in pink tones.
The pink color, known as "yangcai," was called the foreign color when it arrived in China from Europe in the late 17th century. Soon, it became beloved in its new environment, and the skilled Chinese porcelain painters let their nimble brushes glide across the porcelain surfaces, resulting in fantastic objects. Their imagination, along with all the symbolism from the Chinese cultural treasure, created a very appealing color explosion.
The theme includes porcelain items from Emperor Yongzheng in the early 18th century to the time of the Chinese Republic in the early 20th century. Among the porcelain, you will find company porcelain with seasonal flowers, river landscapes, monogram decoration, and Double Peacocks, as well as rarer figural decorations. Some magnificent dishes from the French porcelain manufacturer Samson also illustrate how beloved famille rose was well into the 19th century in our own part of the world.
Welcome to the enchanting world of pink porcelain.
