Auktionshuset Kolonn takes us back to the era when delicate Swedish classicism conquered the world and Functionalist architects transformed homes into machines. The 1920s and 1930s turned established ideals upside down and gave us beautiful objects that still hold their own today and stand out as fitting, well-formed and sometimes truly wonderful.
In the theme Från elegans till funktion – From Elegance to Function – Auktionshuset Kolonn presents just over 130 lots from an era adorned by Swedish Grace, Functionalism and Swedish Modern. With a connoisseur's eye, magnifying glass and perhaps even a lantern, the auction house's specialists have hand-picked pieces with that little something extra. Such as Erik Tidstrand's table lamp, the stool by Josef Frank, the neat side table with zebrano trim, Sylvia Stave's small tin canister and that little oak cocktail cabinet with its pull handles. And as an atmosphere-creator in a class entirely of its own, Olga Lanner's nocturnal view of Stockholm in the great exhibition year of 1930.
