We are delighted to welcome the UK auction house Dreweatts 1759 to Auctionet!

Dreweatts 1759, one of the UK’s oldest and most distinguished auction houses, will present online auctions under the name Dreweatts Timed Online and in association with Auctionet. Their first items will be listed shortly online.

Dreweatts was established in 1759 and is based just outside the town of Newbury, Berkshire, and one hour from London by both train and car. Old will certainly meet new in this collaboration as the online auctions will be run from Dreweatts stunning premises, Donnington Priory, which was built in the 17th century.

Dreweatts’ participation on Auctionet will open up a whole new world of objects to our buyers who will now have access to a wide range of UK antiques. There is a lot of interest in antiques from the UK in Sweden, in part due to the many antiques programmes available on Swedish television.

There have been buildings on the Donnington Priory site since the 14th century

Television drama programmes notably Downton Abbey and The Crown have also contributed to the fascination. And, Highclere Castle, the real life “Downton Abbey", is close by just five miles south of Newbury.

Dreweatts’ Managing Director is George Bailey, an extremely well-known figure in the auction world. George has over 35 years’ experience in the business and previously worked at Sotheby’s where he held a number of senior management positions. George’s specialist team comprises more than 20 experienced and knowledgeable experts, covering many auction categories – furniture, art, works of art, Asian art, jewellery, watches, silver, clocks, ceramics, carpets, manuscripts and model engineering.

Dreweatts also has an office on Pall Mall, St James’s, London where by appointment clients may bring property in for valuation. Selected highlights from upcoming auctions are also exhibited at the Pall Mall office.
