Kristian Holmqvist, born in Lund in 1928, was a Swedish artist known for his work in both art and craftsmanship. After a brief period studying at the Skånska Målarskolan in Malmö in the late 1940s, he trained to become a primary school teacher at the Folkskoleseminariet in Lund. However, his passion for art remained strong, and alongside his teaching career, he worked as a book illustrator before dedicating himself entirely to art in 1978.
One of his most renowned works is Lundakavalkad, a sculpture group created in 1985. This artwork was commissioned by Katedralskolan in Lund to commemorate the school’s 900-year anniversary. The piece stands out as a significant example of Holmqvist’s artistic contributions, reflecting his deep connection to Lund and its cultural heritage.
