Art & Antiques XX is like one big cabinet of curiosities, filled with antiques, delights, wondrous things, and the occasional pure surprise.
The catalogue, which runs to just over 320 lots, opens with a secretaire by Carl Diedrich Fick, master in Stockholm 1776–1806. Only a few lots away, we find a German military naval binocular from the early 1940s. A late Gustavian chandelier hangs above a French lady’s writing desk. And for those who particularly enjoy elegance on a smaller scale, there’s a pair of bookends in cold-painted bronze from the firm Franz Bergmann.
And then there are Beatles autographs, a hefty cash register, a 17th-century portrait of a legendary military commander, a shaft-hole axe, some antique edged weapons, and a baluster-shaped chocolate pot from the 18th century. Plus much, much more. A Christmas service from Gustavsberg comprising a full 95 pieces is a true showpiece, and made for those boisterous, wonderful Christmas dinners when the whole family is gathered.
Welcome!
