Jacques Zadig was born in Paris and came to Malmö in 1935 together with his father, the sculptor William Zadig. There he developed into a distinctive and expressive artist. With training from, among others, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and with Francisco Goya as an important source of inspiration, he created an artistic practice where beauty and strong social engagement meet.
His painting ranges from light-filled landscapes, atmospheric still lifes, and portraits to powerful, expressive depictions of war and human suffering. During the 1960s and '70s, Zadig became one of the first Swedish artists to draw attention to the Vietnam War through his art.
With over 40 solo exhibitions and an international exhibition record, he established himself as a significant artist with a personal visual language. His works are represented in prominent collections, including Moderna Museet and Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.
Crafoord Auktioner Stockholm now has the pleasure of presenting nearly 30 paintings by Jacques Zadig. It is a rare opportunity to discover and acquire works from a versatile artistic practice where color, light, and strong emotions come together.
Welcome to explore Jacques Zadig's fascinating artistry at our current auction!
