Sven Gillsäter was a prominent Swedish nature photographer. But he was also a filmmaker, author, screenwriter and short film director. In 1948 he photographed the Olympic Games in London. He went on to co-found the picture agency Pressfoto Bildnytt and the collective Tio fotografer. In addition, he was involved in establishing the World Wildlife Fund in Sweden, and in 1993 he was named Nature Photographer of the Year.
Hälsinglands Auktionsverk now presents 33 of his photographs, offering a truly diverse experience of our planet. A sea elephant opens its jaws in Antarctica, a marine iguana crawls out of frame, a crocodile approaches with what might almost be a smile (or does it?) — and then we find ourselves acquainted with that desolate research station beneath the mountain massif.
Those were just four examples of Sven Gillsäter's work. Welcome to discover the rest at Hälsinglands Auktionsverk!
