It’s time for the Art Auction at Kalmar Auktionsverk – and this edition is almost entirely devoted to landscape painting rooted in the local region.
From Per Ekström, two plein air canvases depict the sun trembling as it sinks into the horizon. Ragnar Swahn, a native of Kalmar, is represented with over 20 works, several in larger formats.
Alongside these beloved regional artists, the auction also features works by several established names: Stig Jonzon, Ivan Hoflund, Leopold Morsing, Henrik Nordenberg, Oscar Hullgren, and Sigfrid Södergren.
One piece by Helge Johansson, full of the charm we often seek in a painting from the 1910s, may well surprise.
