Auktionshuset Kolonn presents yet another part of the unique collection of ceremonial and ritual nephrite objects, featuring pieces ranging from the Neolithic period (3000 BCE) to the Qing Dynasty.
The collection belongs to a Swedish collector whose fascination with jade was sparked in the 1970s. As a member of the English OCS (Oriental Ceramic Society) since 1999, he has visited Hong Kong on multiple occasions and has been an active collector. Over the years, he has also donated nephrite objects to museums, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Nephrite, also known as jade, has historically been regarded as an imperial gemstone and associated with the soul and immortality. As early as 5000 years ago, nephrite was being mined and sculpted, with its symbolism tied to power, wisdom, and eternal life.
