On lightly creaking hinges, the doors slide open on Johan Fürloh's magnificent late baroque cabinet, revealing the intriguing contents of Kolonn's selected theme. From the cabinet's interior, Jenny Nyström's gnome peeks out from a delightful little watercolor beside a rare postcard advertising the Titanic and her sister ships. On the shelves, salt cellars of porphyry on burnished gold feet are visible, along with a large box in blue and white porcelain from 16th-century China from Ambassador Gustaf Wallenberg's collection. A sketchbook from 1706 with beautiful drawings in red chalk sparks the desire to flip through its pages, while two notes from Gustav VI Adolf's own notepad, concerning the Kennedy assassination, set the wings of history in motion. A clock also sets in motion a truly fine tin toy car from 1920s Germany, alongside another mechanical marvel in the form of Hasselblad's extremely rare aerial camera from 1942. Among the highlights of the theme are, of course, Gösta Adrian Nilsson's striking composition hanging side by side with Zorn etchings and a large watercolor by Johan Tirén with a playful winter motif. With all this and much more, our customers are warmly welcomed to Kolonn and a well-curated theme where, among over 50 auction items, there is much to behold and marvel at.
