Originally from Hallstahammar and for many years active as a teacher in Västervik, Lars Ljungquist lived in constant symbiosis with art. Initially a photographer and photojournalist, he found in painting a freer way to capture life, movement, and emotion – things that the camera could not.
His paintings, presented here by Thelin & Johansson, depict people in action, everyday scenes, and travel experiences, often with a personal connection: self-portraits, family motifs, everyday life in the Philippines, or nostalgic scenes from Västervik. The handcrafted frames have been carefully chosen to complement many of his works.
Ljungquist’s artistry was guided by an inner vision – he painted not only what is visible, but what is alive.
Warm welcome!
