Kolonn presents a collection of ceremonial and ritual nephrite artifacts dating back as far as the Neolithic period (3000 BCE) and extending to the Qing dynasty.
The collection belonged to a Swedish collector whose interest was sparked during the 1970s. A member of the English OCS (Oriental Ceramic Society) since 1999, he has visited Hong Kong numerous times and been an active collector. He has also donated nephrite artifacts to museums, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Nephrite, or jade, has been regarded as an imperial gemstone, symbolizing the soul and immortality. Nephrite mining and sculpting began as early as 5000 BCE. It was incredibly valuable and held deep symbolic meaning, associated with power, wisdom, and eternal life.
