Once again, Stockholm's Auction House in Gothenburg becomes a showcase for an artist whose work seldom receives specific attention. This time, the spotlight is on the Estonian-Swedish painter Erik Schmidt, featured in a theme comprising twelve paintings. Half of the collection follows the color palette that Schmidt has become known for in these latitudes, while the other half is distinctly influenced by his move to Mallorca. There, the bullfighting scenes are accentuated by the warm red color, not only in the capes of the matadors but also in the clothing of the spectators and the painted barriers that separate the audience from the spectacle.
