Shipping and collecting
- Where do I collect my item?
If you didn't order transportation, items are collected at the auction house where you bought that item. So if you buy a painting from Garpenhus, you would collect it from their showroom. Please visit the auction house's website to see their opening hours.
If you order transportation, however, the item is to be collected at the ArtMove representative in the destination city. This is not necessarily at an auction house showroom.
If you order postförskott (postal cash on delivery), they will let you know where to collect.
- Can I have a friend or representative collect my items?
Yes, certainly. Just make sure the person has the invoice number (for a won item) or the contract number (for an unsold item) and some identification.
- How do I order transportation?
After the auction has ended, you can either collect the item at the auction house or order transportation elsewhere.
You can order transportation on My pages. An order is automatically sent to the transport company.
The transport prices stated on the item page are to our warehouses in Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö or Ängelholm.
You can also order postförskott (postal cash on delivery) to other parts of Sweden. Such orders are collected by the transporter once a week and dispatched from their main location. Only smaller, non-fragile items can be sent this way.
For other transport needs, please contact our transporter or any other transporter of your choice.
Please note that it is your responsibility to make sure the item you bought is not subject to export restrictions. A rule of thumb is that Swedish-made items made before 1860 require an export permit. You can apply for one at the Riksantikvarieämbetet site.
- To which cities can I order shipping at the fixed prices shown on the site?
Under My pages, you can order transport at fixed prices shown on every item on the site. We offer such transport to our representatives around Sweden. We add new destinations continuously.
If you don't live at one of these locations, read about other transport options.

- Can i track my shipping by parcel number?
No, today we can only give you a time estimate of the arrival time.
- Can I combine shipping for multiple items?
The transportation we offer has one shipping cost per item. If you order transportation of two lots, you will simply receive separate invoices for the two amounts.
Shipping costs per item simplify the handling and means we can keep prices lower.
This means you can order transportation immediately after winning an auction, without having to wait for other auctions to end. Your lot is likely to arrive sooner, and you don't risk having to pay the house for storing your uncollected item.
If you contact a transport company yourself, you may of course decide on any pricing arrangement you like.
Payment
- How do I pay?
The simplest way to pay your invoice is by bank card on My pages.
You can also pay by bank card at the auction house. Please note! We do not accept cash payment.
We accept both Swedish and foreign bank and credit cards (VISA and MasterCard). An additional fee will added when paying with credit cards or non-Swedish bank cards. The fee is 1.55% of the amount. There is no fee on domestic bank cards.
You can also pay from a Swedish bank account through bankgiro. You can find the complete details on the invoice via My pages. Please note that it usually takes up to 2 days before we can see your payment so please pay within 3 days so the payment arrives in time.
- When do I pay?
Won items have to be paid within 5 days. The due date is on your invoice.
- How can i see if Auctionet.com has received my payment?
Go to My pages – Invoices. You can see by the list of invoices wether they are paid or not.
Note that it can take up to 2 days for bank giro payments to reach us.

- How do i register for an account at auctionet.com?
Click Sign up.
Complete the form.
Ready! You are now a customer at Auctionet.com
If you want to be able to bid you have to complete your registration with som additional information. You can complete the account straight from step 3 or later.
- How much does it cost to have an account at auctionet.com?
The account is free. The only time you pay anything is i you buy or sell an item.
- I forgot my password. How can i get a new one?
Post your email address in the password reset text box. You will instantly receive an email message with information on how to reset your password.

- What does it mean that I provided the wrong password too many times?
For security reasons, we limit the number of times you can provide the wrong password for an account.
We will give you many chances, but if you still get it wrong too many times, you will have to reset your password. You will then receive an e-mail with instructions.
If you don't manage to reset your password, please contact our support.
- Why can't I login with my account from an auction house's previous site?
Accounts from the auction houses' previous systems have not been copied over to Auctionet. This is mostly to avoid duplicates.
You can easily sign up for an Auctionet account. That account lets you bid on items from all of our auction houses.
Terminology
- What is an estimate?
An estimate is a sort of indication of where the market value lies based on previous sales.
The estimate does not limit the amount you want to bid on the item and does not limit the final price. You can place lower or higher bids and the auction ending price can be under or over the estimate.
- What is a reserve price?
A reserve price is a hidden lowest price under which a seller does not allow the item to be sold. This price is always lower than the estimate.
We accept bids below the reserve, but those bids cannot win.
If you are the highest bidder but there is a notice that the reserve has not been met, and the bid amount is colored red, then you will not win the auction when it ends.
If your bid is colored green and there is no such notice, you will win the auction if you have the highest bid when it ends.
If you place a maximum bid at or above the reserve price, your leading bid will be the same amount as the reserve price. If you're the first bidder on an auction with a reserve price of 1000 SEK, and your maximum bid is 2000 SEK, then your leading bid will be 1000 SEK. If the auction has no reserve price, then your leading bid will be 300 SEK, the lowest possible bid.
The reserve price is hidden until it is met. So before the bidding reaches the reserve price amount or higher, you won't know that amount.
- What is resale right?
Resale right is also known as droit de suite.
By European law, a resale fee applies to some works of art.
The fee is calculated from the hammer price and paid through the invoice.
The fee is 5% of the hammered price or lower. Read more on the BUS web site.
If this fee applies, the item page will say so.
- What is a max bid?
When you bid on a lot, you place a max bid (maximum bid) representing the highest amount that you're willing to pay at the moment.
Our automatic bid agent will then place bids on your behalf; always the lowest possible amount and never higher than your max bid.
If you're the first to place a bid on a lot without a reserve price, the bid agent will place a bid of 300 SEK, the lowest accepted bid amount.
If you bid on an auction with a reserve price, the bid agent will try to bid the amount of the reserve price so you can win the auction. It will never bid higher than your max bid amount.
If someone bids against you, the bid agent will attempt to bid one bid step higher so you can win the auction. Again, it will never bid higher than your max bid amount.
During the auction, you can at any time to change your maximum bid. You then simply place a new bid for a different amount. You will never bid against yourself, even if you increase your max bid.
You can lower your max bid in the same way. You can never lower it below the highest bid currently placed by the bid agent.
If two bidders end up placing the same bid, the max bid placed or edited first wins. So it's a good idea to place your actual highest max bid as early as possible.
- What is an absentee bid in a hammer auction?
- What are item number and catalog number?
Each item/lot has an item number that uniquely identifies it. Two different lots will never have the same item number.
The item number is shown on the item's label, and elsewhere. You can enter an item number into the search box to jump to that item.
Items sold at hammer auction also have a catalog number. The first lot of a hammer auction always has the catalog number 1, the next has catalog number 2 and so on.
Two items in two different hammer auctions can have the same catalog number, but never the same item number.
Buying
- How do i place a bid on online auctions?
First of all you have to be a registered customer and logged on to auctionet.com. Not registered yet? Sign up now.
On the view item page there is a text box where you can write your bid. If you want to bid lowest possible bid then it's already written for you, then just press Enter or click "Place bid". If you want to place i higher bid than the "next bid" the you can enter a higher maximum bid, eg. the highest price you want to pay for the item. After that we bid on your behalf as favorably as possible for you, up to your maximum bid.
After you placed your bid you see a confirmation dialog that you have to approve in order to place your bid. You can cancel the bid by clicking cancel och Esc.
Note that if you place a bid when there is less than 1 minute before the auction ends then the ending time will be extended. After extension 3 minutes remain until auction ends.
You can also place bids in any of our associated auction houses.
- How do I bid on a hammer auction?
Hammer auctions are the traditional kind of auction where lots are hammered at some physical location with bidding on-site.
You can participate online by leaving an absentee bid (pre-bid) before the auction starts.
As with online auctions, your bid is the maximum amount you're willing to pay. When the auction takes place, we will bid on your behalf, as favorably as possible, up to that amount.
Absentee bids are not shown on the item page. They are hidden because the actual bidding doesn't take place until the day of the auction. Until then, absentee bids can be changed freely.
Your absentee bid will contend against absentee bids left by others and any bids called out on-site.
Absentee bidding closes a while before the auction will take place. The time at which absentee bidding closes is shown on the item page. Before that time, you can place and change absentee bids.
- What amounts can I bid? What are the increments of the bid ladder?
The first bid on an item always has to be at least 300 SEK. After that every bid has to be higher than the leading bid and follow the increments of the so called bid ladder below. The increments listed below are valid from 2013-01-11.
If the leading bid is … …your bid has to be at least 300–999 SEK 50 SEK 1 000–1 999 SEK 100 SEK 2 000–4 999 SEK 200 SEK 5 000–19 999 SEK 500 SEK 20 000–29 999 SEK 1 000 SEK 30 000–49 999 SEK 2 000 SEK 50 000 SEK and above 5 000 SEK The bids are not limited to round numbers. You can bid 350 SEK or 9 001 SEK as long as it matches or exceeds the minimum allowed bid.
The bid ladder determines the minimum allowed amount for your max bid. You must bid at least one increment above the currently leading bid. When our automatic bid agent bids for you (never higher than your max bid) it will also use these increments.
If someone else has placed a max bid of 300 SEK, you must bid at least 350 SEK by the bid ladder. If you place a max bid of 5 000 SEK, your leading bid will be just that: 350 SEK. If someone else then bids 2 000 SEK, your leading bid will then become 2 200 SEK by the bid ladder.
- Why was the ending time extended when i placed my bid?
If you place a bid when there is less than 1 minute left of the auction then the ending time is extended to 3 minutes left.
Budgivare A skriver in ett maxbud på 750 kr.
Hon skriver in 730 kr.
- I bid the same amount as someone else. Why didn't i win?
If two bidders place the same bid, the leader will be the first one to have bid that amount.
When a maximum bid is placed it has to be a bigger amount than the "bid" that shows, it can however be the same amount as the previous bidder's maximum bid. In this case two bids are created at the same amount - the earliest of the max bids generates the leading bid.
If you place a bid and it matches an earlier max bid, the site will state that your bid is not the leading one.
If the bid you just placed matches another bid exactly, you know that bidder has reached their max bid. So if you then increase your bid, you will be guaranteed to have the highest bid.
- Why didn't the site indicate when another bid was placed?
Just like on most other websites, a page must be reloaded to see the up-to-date state. Neither the time left on the auction nor the bidding status will update on their own if the page is just left open.
There is a button labeled "Reload the page to see new bids" just above the bidding controls that you can use.
Depending on which web browser you use, pages can also be reloaded by pressing Cmd+R, Ctrl+R or F5.
- What happens when i am outbid?
Closer to ending time the safest thing is to monitor the bidding on auctionet.com. Please note that you have to refresh the page to be able to se if someone else has placed a bid om the item.
We also send out an email message notifying you that you have been outbid however there is no guarantee that this email reaches you in time.
- What terms apply when buying license weapons?
When you win the bidding for a license weapon, you must immediately apply to the Swedish Police about a license for that weapon.
Download the application with prepopulated information about the auction house here or use the application at the Swedish Police. Details on the weapon and the seller can be found on the item page or in the mail sent when you won the bidding.
To be granted a license you must meet certain conditions. Read more at the Swedish police website.
Export may require a special export license.
Your item will not be available to collect or transport before you are granted a new license. We do not charge a warehousing fee during this period.
You must pay your invoice for the won auction even if you're still waiting for the license, and even if the license is denied.
If your license is denied, the item will be resold on your behalf.
- Can I withdraw a bid from a won item?
No. Bids are final and binding per the terms.
The Swedish law of distance contracts (distansavtalslagen) does not apply to Auctionet.com since you can always place your bid in any of our auction houses.
- What does it cost to buy through Auctionet.com?
You pay a commission fee of 22,5% incl. VAT and a hammer fee of 50 SEK incl. VAT.
For example, if your winning bid is 1000 SEK, the commission fee will be 225 SEK and the hammer fee will be 50 SEK for a total of 1275 SEK.
Some objects of art have a resale right fee of 5% or less. If this fee applies, the item page will say so. Read more about resale right.
For items that are not collected within the prescribed time we will add a storage fee of 50 SEK incl. VAT/day.
If the invoice is not paid within the prescribed time we send you a reminder email and add a reminder fee of 50 SEK incl. VAT.

Selling
- When do you publish items on the site?
We publish items regularly, usually several times a day. There can, however, be other reasons for an item to not be published. If it's been more than 2–3 weeks, please contact the auction house where you consigned the items, and they will help you.
- What do you do if my item is not sold?
Then we try to sell it again and see if we get any buyers the second time. We put the item up for auction 3 times.
If you want to lower any reserve prices you can contant the point of sale and they will assist you.
Auctionet.com does not charge any unsold fees.
- Where can i sell my items?
You can see all connected auction houses on Auction houses.
- How much does it cost to sell through auctionet.com?
The selles fee may vary from one auction house to another which is why we recommend you to contact the company where you plan to sell and the will assist you.
- Why do my items not have sequential end dates?
We spread items out to avoid unbroken sequences from the same seller or auction house.
This makes for a more interesting mix of items for the site visitors.
