The Catalan painter and graphic artist Joan Abelló Prat began his career as an autodidact. He studied in Barcelona and became a student of Pere Pruna. Numerous study trips took him through Europe and North Africa, to London, Belgium, Paris and the Isle of Man. In the 1960s he returned to his hometown Mollet in Spain. Today in Mollet the Municipal Museum of Abelló is located, where not only the artist's works are shown but also his extensive collection of art objects from all over the world. Abello Prat always sticked to the figurative style and created expressive still lifes and landscapes with his typical violent brushstrokes.
