Description

Engraved with the crest badge for the family Dance. Following inscription on the lid: "Presented by the Royal Academy To GEORGE DANCE ESQ. R RA In grateful acknowledgment of his disinterested Services as AUDITOR" Provenance: George Dance (1741-1825), then to his son Charles Webb Dance (1785-1844); then to his son George Dance (1818-1866) later to his daughter Mary Sibyll Dance (1857-1948). Mary remained unmarried and the family died out after her. Weight 1240 or 1228 grams. 31.4 x 21.6 cm.
