Viennese porcelain,"Jardiniére", porcelain, 19th century

Dimensions: 33 cm high, 20.5 cm diameter The present object, which has the shape of an "antique" tripod basin, comes from the history of the Viennese porcelain manufactory. This was founded in 1718 and existed until 1864 and was the second oldest porcelain institution in Europe after Meissen.
The Jardiniere (French): The gardener) is intended as a flower container. in the 19th century it belonged as a three-legged stand made of wood or metal with an embedded shell to the inventory of bourgeois living culture.

The base is stepped twice and carries the fluted struts with lion paws.
Other characteristics are: - basic painting in cardinal red - inserted bowl with a flat rim - fluting and sides of the legs gilded - gold decoration partially in raised relief - fine figure and landscape paintings in the reserve pictures - the porcelain painting contains women with flower baskets dressed in antique on the front. Approaching a round temple. In the clouds the god Mercury as messenger of the gods with caduceus and winged helmet accompanied by a putto.
- On the reverse depiction of a vestal virgin with incense element in clouds.
