Description

Glazed earthenware in earth tones. Height 6/9/31 cm. (Guldkroken Keramik in the middle).

Irma Yourstone has fallen into the shadow of her older sister Ilse Claesson Roempke, who was a ceramist at Rörstrand and a textile artist. Irma was also at Rörstrand, but started her own business in 1942 with her husband Henry Yourstone, first in Huddinge, then in Halmstad from 1959. Alongside a large amount of "everyday" ceramics to keep the business going, she created more personal ceramics in a muted design language.
Guldkroken Keramik in Hjo was established in 1946 by Bengt and Märtha Grunditz, and showed a similar combination of mass market products and art pieces. The vase here is from the early days of the workshop, and probably made by the Grunditz couple. /MP.
