
approx. 39.5x60 cm frame dimensions 52x72 cm AGNES WIESLANDER She began studying art with Harald Foss in Copenhagen between the years 1897–1899. In 1900, Wieslander went on a study trip to Paris and the Académie Colarossi. Once she returned to Sweden, the moving team went to Gothenburg and studied with Carl Wilhelmson at Valand's painting school.
The trips to Germany and Stuttgart in 1906, 1908 were of decisive importance for her artistry. 1910-11, where she had the opportunity to study with Adolf Hölzel. Under Hölzel's guidance, her colourism was intensified and changed. Wieslander also returned to Paris in 1908 where she particularly studied still life and to achieve a more decorative simplification of the subject.
At the end of the 1910s, during a longer trip, she stayed in Västerbotten to carry out landscape depictions with snowy landscapes and mountains. During this trip, she also paints an unfinished self-portrait, wearing a large fur hat with snowy expanses in the background.
Wieslander's debut exhibition took place in 1902 in Stockholm, when she participated with the Swedish Artists' Association. As a member of the Scanian Artists Association, she participated in the association's exhibitions 1903–1912. She finally left the group as they did not share the same vision of art. She was one of the founders of the artists' group in 1913. She participated in around 10 exhibitions with Skåne's art association as well as exhibitions arranged by the Association of Swedish Female Artists and Sweden's general art association.
Due to increasing lameness, she was forced to stop painting around 1923.
She was represented at the Baltic Exhibition and held two retrospective exhibitions in Malmö and Lund in 1925.
A memorial exhibition was arranged by Malmö museum in 1937.
Wieslander is represented at Malmö Museum, National Museum and Tomelilla Art Collection.
