Description

An embroidered binding in 16th format (105 mm. x 60 mm x 50 mm.) in the style of the Nuns of Little Gidding. All edges valid. Repaired. Contains The book of common prayer, and administration of the sacraments, and other rites and ceremonies of the Church of England. Imprinted in London by Bonham Norton and Iohn Bill, Printers to the Kings most Excellent Maiesty, 1626-1627. The needlework binding is repaired from the ground with vital parts of the embroidery mounted on spine and boards. The embroidery motif both on boards and spine are flowers with silver cords and surroundings in green and red silk. This kind of bindings are often attributed to the nuns of Little Gidding in Huntingdonshire in England. Title soiled and with small repairs in margins. Some staining in the end, but mostly a fresh copy.
