Description

34x28 cm "Barbro Charlotta Löfgren, artist and designer born at Tallåsen in Danderyd on 23 September 1918. She was educated at the Higher School of Art and Design 1936-1940 and was then employed as an illustrator and advertising illustrator at Esselte. In 1948 she joined Birkagårdens Islandscirkel and the same year she traveled to Iceland, a journey that will mean a lot in her continued life. At Birkagården she also met her future husband Sune Örtendahl (1915-1998) and in 1953 they married.
From 1957 the couple Örtendahl spends the summers in Klemetsmåla in Blekinge and there she develops much of her art. In the period 1962-69 she has freelance assignments for Karlskrona and Gefle Porcelain Factories and during this period she created several well-known tableware and decorations, including Plantain, Clover meadow, Blueberry, Tulip, Resin acid, Small-leaved fern and Tulip.
In 1971 she went to a supplementary education at Birkagårdens Grafiska Skola and in 1972 the couple Örtendahl traveled back to Iceland. The result of the visits to Iceland will be a 242-book collection on Icelandic conditions, a collection that was donated in 2002 to the Nordic Folk High School in Biskops-Arnö. Barbro passed away on October 26, 2005 in Enebyberg. Her objects from Karlskrona and Gefle bear only a factory stamp and decorative name."Copied from www.signaturer.se.
